.: Felix Solis
Felix Solis began his ballroom career in San Antonio, Texas in 1980 teaching at a local dance studio. A short time later, he enlisted the United States Navy where he spent the next four years. After leaving the Navy, he began teaching dance again for a Fred Astaire studio in Jacksonville, Florida. While there, he taught and danced competitively in both pro-am and professional levels. He won various excellence awards while with this studio and managed it for several years. Felix went on to open his own dance studio, Classic Ballroom Dancing. Since that time, Felix's business has continued to grow. He currently teaches and competes with his students all around the United States.
Several years ago, Felix established a scholarship program for students who could not otherwise afford to dance. He is currently expanding the program to include elementary, middle, and high school students on Amelia Island. When asked what prompted him to expand this program, he said, "I have a great deal of respect for Pierre Dulaine who did this on a much larger scale in New York City. It is my sincere hope that sharing the art of ballroom dance with our youth on Amelia Island will give them a positive focus and instill in them a love of ballroom dancing that will stay with them always".

.: Chandra Solis
Chandra, the wife of Felix Solis, began dancing ballroom in 1999. After only one lesson, she knew she was hooked. She took a part-time job working at the spa in Bolero's DanceSport, stealing minutes here and there to practice her dancing in their magnificent ballroom. It didn't take long for Felix, who also taught his dance lessons at Boleros to work his debonair charm and win over her heart.
Once Felix and Chandra were married, they began competing on a Pro-Am level. They won several open rhythm titles at competitions in Jacksonville, Philadelphia, New York, Tampa, and Atlanta. They have also been finalists in the United States ballroom competition in Miami, The Ohio Star Ball, The Hawaii Star Ball, and the Volunteer State Challenge Nine Dance. The couple has also performed with the Amelia Island chamber music festival since its inception in 2000, as well as with the Jacksonville Symphony Arias at the Amelia Island Plantation.
The two plan to continue fulfilling their passion for dancing for many years to come.
